Tras las graves riadas en octubre de 1982 y en julio de 1986, en el plan de defensa contra avenidas de ese mismo a\u00f1o se incluy\u00f3 la construcci\u00f3n de tres nuevos embalses para esta comarca: Boquer\u00f3n (Hell\u00edn), Charcos (Tobarra) y Bayco u Ort\u00edgosa. (Ontur-Fuente \u00c1lamo). La rambla de la Ort\u00edgosa es una de las muchas que vierten a este embalse desde el t\u00e9rmino municipal de Fuente-\u00c1lamo. Para poder unir la gran distancia entre las dos sierras, el muro, mucho m\u00e1s largo que alto, se construy\u00f3 con materiales sueltos.
